Made by entrepreneurial students at Yachana Technical High School, the Yachana Rainforest Unity Bracelet is comprised of 10 different types of seeds and natural fiber called "pita" - all renewable materials found in the jungle.  Each seed represents one of the 10 ethnic groups who reside in and are the protectors of the Ecuadorian Amazon.  The groups may have different languages, cultures and histories, but what unites them is their home, the rainforest, with its great wealth of flowers, plants and creatures within, along with their desire to protect that wealth for future generations and the world.

Handicrafts are at the heart of each of these cultures and while styles and uses vary, all groups are accomplished in the arts of basket weaving, jewelery making, wood carving and more.  The seeds of this bracelet are used across the Ecuadorian Amazon region in all types of handicrafts and have been specifically chosen to represent the forest and its people.
